Kurang Tidur Punca Gemuk





Satu kajian lain menunjukkan, individu yang tidur kurang daripada empat jam sehari mempunyai risiko 73 peratus untuk mengalami obesiti dan 50 peratus bagi mereka yang tidur hanya lima jam sehari. Apabila kurang tidur, badan kurang menghasilkan hormon leptin, iaitu sejenis protein darah yang bertanggungjawab mengawal selera dan rasa lapar. Paras leptin yang rendah ini menghantar isyarat ke otak, memberitahu badan kekurangan makanan dan seseorang individu itu perlu makan lebih banyak, walaupun dia sebenarnya kenyang. Jika masalah kekurangan tidur ini berlarutan, penghasilan leptin juga semakin berkurang dan keinginan untuk makan bertambah tinggi. Malah, kekurangan tidur juga meningkatkan paras ‘grehlin’ iaitu sejenis bahan yang meningkatkan keinginan untuk makan.
